ACP Flight Simulator Takes Off at School Roadshows
The ACP has taken another step forward in expanding its interactive STEM offering with the introduction of the ACP Flight Simulator, a high-fidelity flying experience purpose built in-house for use during school breakout sessions. The system debuted on 2 December 2025 at an ACP presentation, where it was enthusiastically received by students.
Engineered specifically with students in mind, the simulator combines an ultrawide primary display with a secondary instrument panel to replicate the feel of a real cockpit. The setup runs on a high-performance workstation to ensure smooth, realistic visuals. Using advanced photogrammetry, the simulator renders detailed world scenery, allowing participants to explore iconic landscapes ranging from sweeping flights over London to immersive views of New York’s skyline.
Students can choose from multiple experiences based on their confidence level. Scenic flights provide an accessible introduction to flight dynamics, while landing challenges such as touching down an Airbus A320 in Rio de Janeiro or guiding a Boeing 747 onto the runway at JFK offer a more demanding option. For those wanting a deeper look into aviation, a structured virtual flying lesson introduces the fundamentals of handling an aircraft. The use of high-quality yoke and throttle controls adds an extra layer of realism to every scenario.
The ACP Flight Simulator expands the charity’s established suite of interactive technologies, which already includes FPV drone simulators, VR headsets, and the quadruped robot, Spot. Together, these tools help students engage directly with modern aerospace concepts in an accessible and memorable way.
The simulator will now form a regular part of the ACP Roadshow and will travel to all future school presentations.
