Aerospace Careers Take Flight at Historic Wycombe Abbey

The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme (ACP) continued its 2025/26 national tour with a visit to Wycombe Abbey School in High Wycombe on Tuesday 14th October 2025. The event welcomed 100 students, including pupils from seven neighbouring schools, for a day of discovery and hands-on engagement with the future of aerospace.

Set against the backdrop of Wycombe Abbey’s historic campus, the session blended cutting-edge innovation with traditional academic excellence. Chris Marshall led the opening presentation, introducing students to the rapid transformation of the aerospace sector and the wealth of new career opportunities it offers. He was joined by Ogi Damjanovic, who explored the creative frontier of virtual reality and digital design, and Mike Stokes, who shared his professional insight into becoming a commercial pilot, accompanied by a 360-degree VR flight experience.

In the afternoon, students rotated through ACP’s signature practical sessions. FPV drone simulators, run by Chris Marshall, provided an authentic sense of flight control. Mike Stokes delivered the VR cockpit experience, while Ogi Damjanovic guided students in 3D VR design, allowing them to experiment with building and exploring in immersive environments.

The visit also featured Spot, the quadruped robot from Boston Dynamics, whose live demonstrations once again drew fascination and excitement from students, underscoring the real-world connection between robotics, engineering, and aerospace technology.

The event was delivered in partnership with Becky Scott, whose coordination made the day possible, with additional thanks to James Sneddon for his assistance on the day.

The ACP thanks Wycombe Abbey School for its collaboration and hospitality. The strong engagement and curiosity shown by students from across the region highlighted the continuing impact of the ACP’s outreach in inspiring the next generation of aerospace professionals.
