Aviation Takes Centre Stage as ACP Returns to John Leggott College

The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme returned to John Leggott College on Tuesday 2 December 2025, after a strong response to its previous visit in October. This second visit welcomed around 100 students from the host college, Outwood Academy Brumby and Outwood Academy Foxhills.

The morning began with an exploration of the rapid changes taking place across the aerospace sector. Chris Marshall opened the session with an overview of emerging technologies and the wider industrial shifts that students will encounter in the coming decade. Ogi Damjanovic then followed with a creative segment focused on virtual reality design. At the request of the college, he incorporated additional elements of gaming design to support students already studying that subject. The final presentation was led by Mike Stokes, who outlined the different routes available for those considering a future as a pilot, along with the academic foundations that support careers across aviation.

The afternoon breakout session gave students the opportunity to get hands on with ACP’s expanding range of technology. Chris oversaw the FPV drone simulators and Spot, the quadruped robot that consistently draws interest. Ogi ran his VR design station, allowing students to explore 3D environments they created themselves. Alongside this, Mike introduced two flight-related activities: the VR Flight Experience and the new ACP Flight Simulator, which made its debut during this event. Built in-house specifically for school presentations, the simulator provides a realistic cockpit layout, immersive world scenery and a selection of flight scenarios suitable for beginners through to more confident participants. It was immediately well received by the students, who remained enthusiastic and engaged throughout the session.

The ACP would like to thank John Leggott College for hosting the event once again and for supporting another productive and engaging day for all involved.
