Exploring Aerospace Innovation in the Heart of London

The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme (ACP) delivered its fourth presentation of the 2025/26 academic year at the City of London School for Girls, located within the Barbican on Monday 13th October 2025. The event brought together 120 students for an immersive introduction to the technologies, challenges, and career pathways shaping the aerospace sector.

Led by Chris Marshall, the day opened with an engaging discussion on how aerospace continues to evolve through digitalisation, automation, and sustainability. He was joined by Ogi Damjanovic, who demonstrated how virtual reality design is revolutionising creativity and engineering problem-solving, and Mike Stokes, who guided students through the journey to becoming a commercial pilot, supported by a 360-degree VR flight experience.

The morning presentations were followed by a series of hands-on sessions where students rotated between ACP’s interactive exhibits. FPV drone simulators, operated by Chris Marshall, allowed participants to experience the focus and precision of remote flight control. Mike Stokes ran the immersive VR flight station, offering a pilot’s-eye view of flight operations, while Ogi Damjanovic supervised 3D VR design exercises, encouraging creative exploration through technology.

Adding a memorable highlight to the day, Spot, the quadruped robot from Boston Dynamics, demonstrated its impressive agility and intelligence in a series of live performances, captivating both students and staff alike.

The presentation was coordinated in collaboration with Russell Ives, whose support ensured a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees.

ACP extends its appreciation to the City of London School for Girls for its hospitality and enthusiasm. The event marked another successful stop in ACP’s expanding 2025/26 outreach, showcasing how aerospace and technology continue to inspire students at the very heart of the capital.
