Moreton Hall Hosts ACP’s First Roadshow of 2026
The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme visited Moreton Hall in Oswestry, Shropshire on Tuesday 20 January 2026, delivering a Roadshow Experience for approximately 80 students.
The day was designed to address both the opportunities and uncertainties surrounding rapidly emerging technologies, particularly as students begin to consider how automation, AI, and immersive systems may shape their future careers. The morning presentation explored the changing aerospace and STEM landscape, helping students understand how technological change is creating new roles rather than simply replacing existing ones.
Chris Marshall opened the day with a technical overview of how aerospace is evolving in response to automation, sustainability demands, and increasingly complex digital systems. This was followed by a session led by Ogi Damjanovic, introducing students to virtual reality design and immersive development workflows. The presentation highlighted how VR tools are now widely used not only in aerospace engineering and simulation, but also across design, visualisation, and creative technology industries.
Student feedback reflected a clear shift in perception around emerging technologies and the Fifth Industrial Revolution. One student summarised this change simply, stating:
“The future isn’t scary anymore.”
The afternoon breakout sessions allowed students to engage directly with ACP’s technology demonstrations. FPV drone simulators provided hands-on exposure to flight control and spatial awareness, while the VR design station enabled students to create and explore their own virtual environments. Spot, the quadruped robot, continued to be a focal point for discussion, offering a practical example of robotics and AI operating together in real-world systems.
Students described the day as both informative and motivating, with one noting:
“A very eye-opening experience and gave me an insight into the diversity of emerging technology and how it can be applied to many different industries.”
Another reflected on the wider relevance of the content:
“This was an extremely exciting day, and I’ve learnt so much about the importance of technology in today’s world.”
The ACP would like to thank the staff at Moreton Hall for hosting the visit and supporting a productive and engaging day for all involved.
