Olympus Academy Trust hosts the ACP in Stoke Gifford

On 9 July the presentation team of Michael Smith, Chris Marshall, Mike Stokes and Lee Mason, joined by Ewan McDonald and Nuham Thomas from the global engineering consultancy, AtkinsRealis, were hosted by Abbey Wood Community School of the Olympus Academy Trust alongside two other members of the Trust, Patchway Community School and Winterbourne Academy.

The manor of Stoke Gifford dates back to the Norman Conquest in 1066 when William the Conqueror gave it to Osbern Giffard, one of his knights. Today it is a northern fringe suburb of Bristol and within the Bristol aerospace community of such companies as Airbus, GKN Aerospace and Rolls-Royce to mention just a few.

The team would like to extend their heartiest thanks to Ben Dilley, Head Teacher, who personally tried out our AR/VR experience as a pilot, and to Iain Williams, Head of Engineering, who organised the day and, with his colleagues, ensured that everything went smoothly and supported us so well.

Finally, we are most grateful indeed to: first, AtkinsRealis – one of the ACP’s growing list of superb supporting companies and organisations – for the assistance they provide to the ACP when their rapidly developing business commitments allow; and second, to the 145 strong audience of pupils and teachers who made it all so worthwhile!
