The ACP Roadshow Lands in Leicester at Cedars Academy
On 20 March, the ACP Roadshow arrived at Cedars Academy in Leicester, where a lively group of 88 students and staff from Cedars Academy, Cedars Martin Sixth Form, Martin High, and Mercia Academy came together.
Chris Marshall launched the day’s activities by illustrating how technologies such as robotics and drone systems are reshaping possibilities within modern aviation and aerospace. His presentation set the stage for an exciting glimpse into what the future may hold for the next generation of innovators.
Soon after, Lee Mason examined the growing impact of blockchain and artificial intelligence, underlining how emerging digital fields could unlock fresh opportunities for future engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs.
Mike Stokes followed with practical guidance on forging a career in aviation, outlining how determined individuals can earn a pilot’s licence and the diverse range of flight experiences that can follow.
Our Q&A session then invited students to imagine new roles that might arise in the years ahead, reflecting on the ever-evolving nature of technology. To conclude the presentations, everyone was introduced to Spot, the quadruped robot from Boston Dynamics, offering a vivid demonstration of how robotics is advancing to meet real-world challenges.
Following a short break for lunch, participants sampled FPV drone-flight simulators, experimented with a VR flight scenario, and delved into virtual reality design, each activity highlighting the intersection of hardware and software in driving innovation. On behalf of the ACP Trustees, we extend warm thanks to Rebecca Illston and Malika Taylor, for their commitment to bringing this event to fruition. We look forward to inspiring many more young people as the Roadshow continues its journey across the country.
