The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme Returns to Leicester Grammar School

The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme (ACP) delivered its second presentation of the 2025/26 academic year with a return visit to Leicester Grammar School on 23rd September 2025, engaging 120 students in a full-day programme of presentations and hands-on technology experiences.

The session was led by Chris Marshall, who opened the day with an engaging presentation on the rapid evolution of aerospace technologies and the future career pathways emerging across the sector. He was joined by Ogi Damjanovic, who explored the growing influence of virtual reality design and immersive digital technologies, and Mike Stokes, who provided detailed insight into pathways to becoming a commercial pilot and the challenges involved.

Following the morning’s talks, students participated in a series of breakout sessions designed to bridge theory with real-world application:

– Chris Marshall operated FPV drone simulators, offering students first-hand experience of remote flight control.
– Mike Stokes delivered a 360-degree VR flight experience, allowing students to explore flight operations from a pilot’s perspective.
– Ogi Damjanovic guided students through 3D virtual reality design exercises, highlighting how VR is transforming aerospace and engineering design workflows.
– Spot, the quadruped robot developed by Boston Dynamics, also featured in interactive demonstrations, providing an engaging look at the role of advanced robotics within the modern aerospace ecosystem.

The event was coordinated with the support of Careers Lead Clare Scott, whose efforts ensured a smooth and well-organised visit.

The ACP team extends its thanks to Leicester Grammar School for its continued partnership and enthusiasm. The positive engagement from both staff and students reinforces ACP’s mission to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals as the 2025/26 academic year continues.
