Warwick School Takes Off with the ACP’s Roadshow
On 3 April, Warwick School opened its doors to the ACP Roadshow, welcoming 50 students and staff eager to learn about next-generation aviation and aerospace developments.
The morning began with Chris Marshall’s introduction to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, illustrating how drone systems and robotics are expanding today’s technological capabilities and hinting at where these innovations might lead in the near future.
Lee Mason then demonstrated the impressive potential of blockchain and AI, emphasising how these domains could underpin tomorrow’s engineering and entrepreneurial ventures.
Shortly afterwards, Mike Stokes provided a roadmap for aspiring pilots, explaining how earning a licence can pave the way for a wide range of flying roles – from commercial opportunities to more specialised missions.
An engaging question-and-answer session encouraged students to consider the professions likely to emerge as technology evolves at a rapid pace. The morning’s talks culminated in a memorable introduction to Spot, the quadruped robot from Boston Dynamics, which served as a vivid example of advanced robotics in real-world settings.
After a short lunch break, participants moved through interactive stations that featured FPV drone simulators, a VR flight experience, and virtual reality design tasks. This combination of hardware and software highlighted the many facets of innovation within the aerospace sector. As we look ahead, we remain committed to inspiring young people across the country and eagerly anticipate the Roadshow’s future visits.
