From Robotics to VR: ACP Engages Visitors at ARU Peterborough Community Day 2025

The ACP was proud to attend the Community Day 2025, hosted at Anglia Ruskin University in Peterborough on Saturday 16th August. Throughout the day, visitors were welcomed into ACP’s dedicated exhibition room, which provided a range of engaging, hands-on experiences designed to showcase the possibilities of a career in aviation.

A key highlight was Spot, the advanced quadruped robot, which was manned by Chris Marshall. Spot was not only on display behind a barrier but also active throughout the event interacting with visitors. Spot held conversations across the day, answering questions and providing insights into robotics and aerospace applications.

Alongside Spot, the ACP offered a 360-degree flight experience via Meta Quest 3 VR headsets, overseen by Mike Stokes. This immersive demonstration allowed attendees to experience the excitement of flight in virtual reality. Visitors also tested their skills with ACP’s FPV drone simulators, offering a realistic introduction to modern drone operations.

The event drew an estimated 3,000 people to the university, and ACP’s section proved to be a significant attraction, particularly for younger visitors. Many left inspired by the technology on show and the opportunities that a career in aerospace can provide.

Through its involvement in events such as this, ACP continues its mission to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals, providing students and families with direct access to the tools, technologies, and conversations that bring aviation careers to life.
