SACP Returns to Kingsdale Foundation School for Year 11 Presentation

The Schools’ Aerospace Careers Programme returned to Kingsdale Foundation School in South London on 29 September 2026, following its first visit in July 2025. This time, 60 Year 11 students joined the team for a day exploring careers in aerospace, aviation and emerging technologies.

With students considering their next steps after GCSEs, the visit offered an opportunity to hear directly from people working in different parts of the industry and try some of the technology used in their fields.

Chris Marshall opened with the main SACP presentation, exploring technological change and its implications for future careers. Mike Stokes then outlined the pathways to becoming a pilot, explaining how training is structured and the options available to those interested in professional flying.

Following a short break, Chris shared his experience of working as a drone pilot. Ogi Damjanovic rounded off the industry presentations with a demonstration of his work in VR design, introducing students to a career that combines creative skills with technology.

Before lunch, attention turned to Spot. Students were invited to put their questions directly to the Boston Dynamics quadruped robot, seeing how robotics and a conversational AI system can work together.

The afternoon gave students time to explore the equipment themselves. Chris ran the XR drone simulators, while Mike’s ten VR headsets provided a view of flying from inside the cockpit. At Ogi’s station, five headsets allowed students to try designing in a virtual environment, building on what they had seen during his morning demonstration.

The SACP thanks Yulia Cherepanova for organising the day and the staff at Kingsdale Foundation School for welcoming the team back. It was a pleasure to return and introduce another group of students to the range of opportunities across the sector.SACP Returns to Kingsdale Foundation School for Year 11 Careers Day
