The ACP visits a cinema superstar’s alma mater
On 27 March the ACP Roadshow was hosted by Wilson’s School in Wallington, Surrey – Michael Caine’s alma mater – where we were joined by six other schools from the local area. The presentation team was accompanied by Vincent White from AtkinsRealis who provided a clear insight on being an engineer and project manager in a global consultancy, his route into the role, and his various projects to date. We thank him greatly for this because, as he advised us afterwards, as soon as the 1.5 hours breakout session commenced, he was swamped with questions – and that is what the ACP is all about!
As always Spot continued to amaze. Not only is he becoming a firm favourite with all the pupils we meet – and the subject of so many photos – but also when asked a question in Chinese, he answered in Chinese! Boston Dynamics please note, your robot is a serious attraction and asset in UK secondary schools.
On a personal note, Dr Michael Smith, our Chairman who led the team, would like to express his considerable gratitude to Chris Marshall from Airborne Platforms UK, Mike Stokes from DevelopMyWeb and Lee Mason from Metageist, who pulled together our very considerable amount of new digital equipment – and made it work perfectly!
Finally, and most important of all, we offer our sincerest thanks to the whole team at Wilson’s School who were such superb hosts, and in particular to Gavin Englefield, Deputy Head, who made it all happen!
